I can hear the instructor clearly even when he's talking to someone way down the line.
Ambient sound amplification on the IV's is the best I've ever heard. With the IV's my ears stay nice and fresh, and it's easy to keep them on but not use them by just pulling the bud(s) out. I sweat like a pig, and over-ear headsets have my ears sweating before I'm out of the house. I suppose you could wear a balaclava and cut holes in the ears for the buds, but that seems like it could introduce its own set of problems.įor the other 95% of the time, they're awesome. Over-ear units keep them nice and toasty during insanely cold days, whereas the IV's leave your ears exposed. They're epic, much better than anything else I've used. How do you like the IV's? My ears ache after about an hour under conventional headsets so I've been seriously considering adding the IV's to my LTP. Team Wendy Ballistic (L), ComTac IV, EOG LP CW, Wilcox G24, VIP NSW IR, PVS-15 + TW LTP, AKA2, EOG CW, Howard Leight, NVBS-15: I have yet to test the posts that come with the TW Peltor adapter on the Leight's, but I'm satisfied with how they work so I'll leave that for another day. Chewing it off would've been just as easy. A razor would work even more easily, but the cutters were closer and I'm lazy. I used a set of side-cutters to separate the headgear from the ear-pro (pictured). I bought a half-dozen sets of the Howard Leight Sports when Cabela's had a holiday sale for $35/ea. They won't accidentally fall out, but if you give the earmuffs a good yank (more than you would use to put them on or move them out of the way) you can pull them out. I say "almost" because the posts on the TW Peltor adapter are slightly thinner than those of the Howard Leight's, and with not a whole lot of force they can be pulled out.
So, I killed a set of Leight's and decided to give it a go with one of my TW LTP helmets, and not surprisingly the combination works almost perfectly.
